CMS Final Rule

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Final Rule on Emergency Preparedness was released September 2016. The 17 provider types (including hospitals) to which the rule applies must comply with and implement all regulations by November 16, 2017. The rule has four major components: development of emergency operations plans, development of policies and procedures, development of a communications plan, and training and testing.
