This resource guide was created to assist members with the implementation of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) final rule on emergency preparedness. When CMS published the final rule in the September 16, 2016 Federal Register, it included dozens of resources within the comment and response sections, and clearly stated its’ expectation that using these resources would enable covered health care facilities to begin the necessary preparations for compliance with the final rule which must be implemented by November 15, 2017.

For each resource, the guide provides a brief description, and a link to the resource. Included resources have also been matched to the related elements of the Emergency Preparedness Program required by CMS—risk assessment and emergency planning, policies and procedures, communications, and training and testing. Resources are listed in the order they appear in the Federal Register.
