GNYHA would like to update members on several transportation opportunities available to hospitals and health care workers in support of the COVID-19 response. Below please find an overview.
Ride-Share
Various ride-share companies have contacted GNYHA to offer reduced fares and/or create custom transportation networks for hospital employees during the pandemic. Via has proposed using their vehicle fleet for shared and/or individual trips to and from hospitals. Hospital administrators should email Michael Vaccarino at Via if interested. Lyft has provided this form for inquiries.
Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA)
The MTA is suspending subway service each night from 1:00 a.m.–5:00 a.m. for train and station disinfecting. To ensure that adequate transportation options are available for essential workers during these hours, bus service has been expanded. For up-to-date information about the overnight subway closures and the latest bus schedules, please go to new.mta.info/coronavirus/overnight.
NYC Ferry
NYC Ferry has reduced and modified its service schedule. Customers should visit their mobile application and website for the latest information.
GNYHA thanks New York’s health care workers for their service.
