Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare Enhances Pandemic Offerings

February 16, 2021

To support and enhance virtual and unit-based Schwartz Rounds® during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare has developed guidance, Stress First Aid peer-support, and a self-care program.

Schwartz Center programs and resources help support and engage staff, build stronger teams, increase caregiver satisfaction, improve authentic communication, and create a culture of compassion. The Schwartz Rounds® give multidisciplinary caregivers an opportunity to discuss the human side of health care in a supportive environment of mutual trust and respect. Member organizations also get other benefits such as online and in-person continuing education opportunities and member programing at the annual Compassion in Action Healthcare Conference.

GNYHA’s unique relationship with the Schwartz Center includes covering the cost of annual Schwartz Center membership fees for 65 GNYHA member sites. Through its signature Schwartz Rounds® conducted by and for health care providers, the Schwartz Center promotes compassionate patient care and supportive healing relationships.
