School Health Centers Gear up for Session

October 23, 2019

The New York School-Based Health Alliance, which represents school-based health centers (SBHCs) across the State, is planning its advocacy for the upcoming budget cycle, where it will seek to protect $17 million in current funding for the program and secure an additional $5 million to fully reverse cuts from fiscal year 2017–18.

Many GNYHA member hospitals operate SBHCs, which provide free comprehensive care to hundreds of thousands of at-risk children in public schools.

The SBHC Alliance, GNYHA, and other groups will meet with top officials in the Cuomo Administration and Legislature, distribute a sign-on letter, and mount a lobby day in Albany, among other activities. If you are interested in joining these advocacy efforts or signing onto the letter, please contact Andrew Title.
