Perea-Henze Joins de Blasio Administration

November 22, 2019

Mayor de Blasio appointed Raul Perea-Henze, MD, as Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services. Dr. Perea-Henze was formerly Managing Director of Horus Advisors. He also held positions in the Obama and Clinton administrations, and worked at pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Merck. He replaces Herminia Palacio, MD, who left the Administration in August for a position at the Guttmacher Institute.

In a statement, the Administration said Dr. Perea-Henze would be tasked with “deepening the city’s approach to addressing homelessness across the five boroughs, coordinating across the City’s public health care system, improving access to social services for all New Yorkers, and ensuring Agencies that oversee the City’s most vulnerable populations, such as seniors, children and victims of domestic violence, are run in the most efficient and caring manner.”
