The New York State Department of Health reported that data collection for weekly influenza hospitalizations in the Health Emergency Response Data System (HERDS) will open on October 11 for the week of October 4 through October 10. Hospitals are required to report the daily aggregate number of hospitalized patients with laboratory confirmed influenza by age group each week through to Wednesday, May 26, 2021 (for the week ending May 22, 2021). All data should be reported by Wednesday of the following week.
For the 2020-2021 flu season, hospitals will need to continue to enter data on a weekly basis and track hospitalizations on a daily basis. A copy of the survey form with the new reporting format is attached.
