The New York State Departments of Health and Education and the Office of Children and Family Services recently issued a joint statement regarding signed New York State legislation that removes non-medical exemptions from school vaccine requirements. The statement provides details on vaccination deadlines for children who have had religious exemptions. More information is forthcoming.

Current Ebola Outbreak in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
CDC Newsroom: First Case of Ebola Virus Disease Diagnosed in Uganda
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports the first case of laboratory-confirmed Ebola Virus Disease associated with the current DRC outbreak in a neighboring country. The patient reportedly was infected in the DRC and then traveled into Uganda. The CDC and its international and regional partners are moving to quell the current outbreak, which has infected more than 2,000 individuals and resulted in more than 1,300 deaths. While the spread of the outbreak beyond the DRC is causing concern, the risk of transmission in the United States remains very low.
