GNYHA-UHF Symposium to Focus on the Opioid Epidemic

On October 30, GNYHA and the United Hospital Fund, in collaboration with major health services organizations in the New York metropolitan region, will hold the 29th Annual Symposium on Health Care: Research and Practice. The Symposium convenes providers, policymakers, and researchers to discuss innovative and emerging efforts to improve care delivery and the promotion of health in the New York region. The Symposium will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the CUNY Graduate Center in Manhattan, with registration and a poster session beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Andrew Kolodny, MD, Co-Director, Opioid Policy Research, Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University, will deliver the keynote address. Dr. Kolodny’s primary area of focus is the prescription opioid and heroin crisis that is devastating families and communities across the country. His presentation will address current opioid epidemic research. A panel discussion on health disparities in New York will follow.

The Symposium’s poster session will highlight important research and program evaluations that are influencing the health care delivery system and quality improvement strategies in the New York region. Registration information is available on the UHF website.
