GNYHA and the United Hospital Fund (UHF) will hold the 30th Annual Symposium on Health Care Services in New York: Research and Practice on November 19. Providers, policymakers, and researchers attend this annual event to discuss innovative and emerging efforts to impact the delivery of care and the promotion of health in the New York region. The Symposium will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the CUNY Graduate Center in Manhattan. Registration is available on the UHF website.
Drew Altman, PhD, President and CEO of the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, will give the keynote. An expert panel will address the integration of post-acute care providers into accountable care, bundled payment, and other delivery system reform strategies. GNYHA Senior Vice President Tim Johnson will moderate the discussion, which will include presentations by Claudia Colgan, RN, Vice President, Quality Initiatives, Mount Sinai Hospital; Lynn Rogut, Director, Quality and Team Leader, UHF; and David Grabowski, PhD, Professor of Health Care Policy, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Grabowski is also a member of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, which advises Congress on Medicare payment policy.
The panelists will discuss what consumers and hospitals want from post-acute providers, the emergence of post-acute care networks and their implications on improving quality across the care continuum and containing costs, and the challenges of managing post-acute care needs within delivery system reform efforts.
