GNYHA to Share Resident/CBO Collaboration Toolkit at September 20 Event

September 10, 2018

At a September 20 educational symposium at the New York Academy of Medicine, GNYHA will unveil Improving Residency Program and Community-Based Organization Collaboration: A Guide to Developing Innovative Partnerships, a toolkit to help residency programs engage in mutually beneficial partnerships with community-based organizations (CBOs) to train residents on social determinants of health. Residents who understand the importance of addressing social determinants of health can better address the needs of their surrounding communities. This effort is part of a New York State Health Foundation-funded project to improve collaborations between primary care residency programs and CBOs. The toolkit details steps for engaging in such partnerships and includes best practices, challenges, and lessons learned from residency programs and CBOs that participated in the immersion training component of GNYHA’s project.

GNYHA’s September 20 educational symposium will include several related presentations and panel discussions. Please see EN-81 for more information about the event.
