GNYHA’s first Quality Fundamentals course reviewed the science and tools of quality improvement (QI) using case studies of common clinical challenges. The October 10 course was attended by 42 people from 27 hospitals, including physicians, nursing staff, and QI coordinators.

Participants reviewed how to set up a QI project and select meaningful measures. Using data from case studies, they designed QI projects, reviewed samples to identify trends, and strategized on adapting a QI project based on run charts and control charts.
“The case studies were very helpful to illustrate concepts taught in the course,” one participant noted in course evaluations.
GNYHA will offer the course again in early 2020.
