GNYHA Part of NQF Action Team to Prevent Workplace Violence in Healthcare

November 11, 2019

GNYHA is honored to be one of 28 representatives from health care institutions and organizations across the country participating in the National Quality Forum’s Action Team to Prevent Workplace Violence in Healthcare, which launched on October 28. GNYHA Vice President of Professional and Regulatory Affairs Jenna Mandel-Ricci will be a member of the Action Team tasked with exploring workplace violence prevention and mitigation strategies and barriers. Throughout the rigorous eight-month process, the team will produce an Action Brief to be shared during a May 2020 Public Capstone Webinar.

GNYHA launched a learning series in January to explore workplace violence prevention and mitigation strategies and approaches with its members. The series has explored a diverse set of topics including incident reporting systems, training approaches and strategies, unit-based approaches to violence reduction, and active shooter response in the health care environment. Information gleaned from the learning series will be shared with Action Team members. GNYHA looks forward to sharing with its member hospitals promising and emerging practices from other organizations.
