This article is superseded by the October 16 bulletin DOHMH Updates COVID-19 Diagnostic Testing Guidance.
The New York State Department Health (DOH) issued updated guidance today on the prioritization of testing for COVID-19. The new guidelines allow a health care provider for any New Yorker who resides or works within the State to authorize diagnostic and/or serologic testing for COVID-19. Health care providers should use clinical judgment to determine the appropriate COVID-19 test(s) (i.e., diagnostic or serologic) that should be obtained based on individual clinical factors.
To support the statewide coordinated testing prioritization, health care providers can authorize COVID-19 testing for any New Yorker but may consider the updated and expanded prioritization contained in the new guidance when ordering.
