On June 26, the City Council passed a bill making technical amendments to the “green buildings” law, which mandates aggressive greenhouse gas emissions reductions. Most notably, the legislation relaxes the limits for most hospital buildings by about 11.5% from 2030 to 2034.
GNYHA and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East advocated strenuously to make sure the green buildings bill would not adversely impact New York City’s hospitals, communities, and health care workforce. More information about the law is available here.
