Clarification on January 8 Deadline to Use Vaccine Inventory; Revised Standing Orders for Pfizer and Moderna Vaccines

January 6, 2021

GNYHA has obtained confirmation from the State that the deadline for hospitals to use vaccine on hand as of January 4 is “no later than January 8,” as stated in Executive Order (EO) 202.88. There was a conflict with a recent New York State Department of Health (DOH) guidance document, which reported a different deadline. Hospitals should follow EO 202.88, not the DOH guidance, regarding that deadline. However, hospitals are still responsible for notifying DOH today, January 6, if they are not on pace to meet the January 8 deadline. Please contact Laura Alfredo with any questions.

Also, DOH issued updated Non-Patient-Specific Standing Orders for the PfizerBioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. GNYHA is still analyzing the updates and will follow up with members that have sent questions about some of the changes. Please contact Lorraine Ryan with any questions or concerns.
